Controversial, haunting and popular from the moment it opened, William Friedkin's masterpiece The Exorcist, in a 2-disc Edition featuring stunning Hi-Def presentations of the original 1973 Theatrical Version and the 2000 Extended Director's Cut. The horrifying and realistic tale of an innocent girl inhabited by a terrifying entity, her mother's frantic resolve to save her and two priests – one doubt-ridden, the other a rock of faith - joined to battle the ultimate evil, always leaves viewers breathless. Winner of two Academy Awards and nominated for an additional eight including Best Picture, this greatest supernatural thriller of all time still astonishes and unsettles like no other movie.

Arrived a couple of days ago already open with fingerprints on discs and a scuffed case. Not what I expected for a "new" item.

Seminal horror movie returns again with another reissue. The film itself is a masterpiece, from its creepy beginnings in Iraq through Tubular Bells to its legendary finale, and is included in both the original theatrical version and the 2000 extended director's cut across 2 discs, both presented in anamorphic 1.85:1 ratio and digitally remastered. The director's cut has 6.1 sound and a variety of foreign languages in 5.1 and 2.0 if thats what you need, while the original (in 5.1 English only) mostly presents mono versions of the same. Special features include 2 commentaries by Friedkin, one on each version, and a commentary by the Sound Man on the 1973 cut discussing special effects. The "Fear Of God" BBC documentary is included in its unabridged format as well as a deleted scene, trailers, tv spots and 3 more documentaries on the new version, all from 2010. A lavish package at a reasonable price if you've not owned it before, but nothing new for the die-hards.
