Adam Wingard directs this US thriller in which an ex-soldier causes mayhem within a family. David (Dan Stevens) knocks at the door of the Peterson family and informs mother Laura (Sheila Kelley) that he was a close friend of Caleb (Chris Harding), the son she lost in combat. Welcomed into the family home, David is initially granted a hostile reception by Caleb's brother and sister, Luke (Brendan Meyer) and Anna (Maika Monroe). However, David's handy ability to buy booze and deal out violent retribution to bullies quickly ingratiates him with the teenagers. That is, until an usual sequence of events raises suspicions that David may not be who he claims. Will any light be shed on the guest's mysterious past?

Superb 1980s style action movie. Dan Stevens gives a fantastic performance as an American solder who may or may not be someone else! This film is so well made all of the cast are great but Dan Stevens really stands out with a charismatic, mysterious & deadly performance. Dan is going to be a major film star sooner or later as he ticks all the boxes to achieve that and blows away so many current A list movie stars with his natural charisma, good looks & nice guy persona off camera. The direction by Adam Wingard is also very good. This movie has many 1980s era action movie tributes in the style, art direction, mood & mystery but its all shot so well by Adam Wingard he skillfully manages to combine the lot into a now classic action movie which is definately one of the very best from the last decade and well worth owning on Bluray as the presentation is superb. The image is grainy at times but its all part of the experience as the grain is film grain & not digital noise grain!
This is a great looking steelbook to go along with a very good looking blu ray. The film harks back to classic 70s and 80s horror by the likes of John Carpenter and is obviously a tribute to the genre. I will note that the first hour is better than the final act of the film but overall it made for intriguing viewing. Will definitely require another watch! Well worth it.
A simple and unnecessary steelbook but a nice one non the less. The film was good, much better than expected, great characters and gripping story.

Excellent music, good sound editing, interesting plot and very great action sequences give this thriller movie an entertaining vibe of 80s synth nostalgia to modern audiences.
As this was my first purchase of a steelbook after recommended by a friend , i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the case , especially the artwork amazing! also quick dispatch from Zavvi thanks.
