Action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his much-anticipated return to the big screen in The Last Stand.

After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy.

With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. Cortez' path: straight through Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement, including Agent John Bannister (Forest Whitaker) will have their final opportunity to intercept him before the violent fugitive slips across the border forever.

At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately rallies his team and takes the matter into his own hands, setting the stage for a classic showdown.

Customer reviews are independent and do not represent the views of Zavvi.

the last stand

don't need to review film because every one knows with Arnold schwarzeneger you get action non brainer but entertainment and if you fancy this film the steelbook well worth getting looks great

loads of fun

it silver not white, dont advertise it at the color you think looks better so customers will buy it, false advertising this is zavvi the backing should be white not silver that makes this steelbook not look half as good as the picture, as for the movie loads of fun, just zavvi and there false advertising..

The Last Stand

First off the mark a great return for Arnie, typical action of the ageing action icon..to which even he acknowledges in the film. Ticks all the boxes for me as to action, humor, use of awesome corvette and lots of empty shell casings. Film has a surprisingly good supporting cast Johnny Knoxville for comedy value, Peter Stormare as typical villan type are the stand outs for me some others do have their own qualities. Is it a cliché movie well yes but as I said ticks all the boxes and keeps you interested the whole time, so well worth a watch. As for the art work i think its one of the most stand out peices ive seen for a while and worth owning just for that.

Great Steelbook

Great cheesy film and a great steelbook release from Zavvi yet again. Each weapon someone is holding on the front cover reflects light in differents angles which is a really nice touch. A*

Great

Not for the Intelligent viewer, or even for a fan of Kim Jee-woon, but a good film none the less. Yes it does have the 'much anticipated return of Arnie'(not even going to attempt to spell his surname correctly)but is does have some other acting greats that in my opinion saw this film as a sort of vehicle to get their career going again (forest Whitaker and Peter Storemare). But please do not get me wrong, this is a good film, but maybe standard blu ray, if you are not steelbook mad that is...
