Unidentified throughout the film, the titular Warrior has a suitable man-with-no-name mystique, wandering through the desert and mountains after vowing "I'll never lift a sword again". British director Asif Kapadia, who also co-scripted, has crafted this beautiful film with maturity, getting a brooding, emotive performance from his lead and quality support from other cast members, including many non-actors - the Warrior's lieutenant was played by a stuntman, and Riaz was played by a street kid. Kapadia's film is an auspicious feature debut. It's sumptuous and magnificent in scope but also meditative and philosophical.
