What do you get when you cross a jaded detective with a genuinely enthralling mystery? Well, a great Jessica Jones story of course! Like all great PIs, Jessica Jones is at her best when she works alone and that shows for the majority of this book. The plot unravels at an enjoyable pace, with a few jumps back and forth from present to past to allow the reader to work things out alongside the titular character. Like her other stories, this book allows Jessica's emotions and relationships to share the stage with the plot, meaning that we get a richly developed character along with a well-written story. With a sprinkling of cameos from Jessica's friends and allies, and a grim sense of humour that all us Jones fans have come to love, this book is the perfect example of what a story centred around our favourite NY PI should be.
