The Creed franchise is the direct successor to Rocky, the biggest series in the genre of sports cinema. Unlike the Sylvester Stallone movies, the story of Creed does not revolve around Rocky Balboa, focusing on a new face, Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed (played by Michael B. Jordan). Fans will recognise this surname, as Donnie is the son of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), a boxer who was killed by Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in Rocky IV (1985).

Though he carries the legacy of a world-famous boxer, Donnie has carved out his own path and become a fan-favourite character in his own right.
