A Street-Level Team Up

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) took the world by storm when it released Avengers Assemble in 2012, bringing together an eclectic roster of superheroes in a way never seen before on the silver screen.

Following in the footsteps of the films, Netflix began constructing their own street-level corner of the MCU, beginning with Daredevil in 2015. Starring Charlie Cox as Matthew Murdock, the show proved a critical hit.

Continuing with the dark and gritty approach of Daredevil, Netflix pushed ahead on expanding the streaming platform’s line-up of superheroes. Jessica Jones released next in late 2015, followed by Luke Cage (2016) and Iron Fist (2017).

After each of the heroes were introduced in their own solo shows, the Defenders crossover miniseries came out in 2017.

The team take on a criminal organisation known as the Hand, who are threatening to destroy New York City - with the aid of Daredevil’s old ally Elektra. They must learn to overcome their differences (just like any conventional superhero team) and protect the city’s people.
