‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ (2016) and its sequel ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ (2018) are fantasy film spinoff and prequels to the Harry Potter movie series. The Fantastic Beasts series follows the adventures of British wizard and "magizoologist" Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) in America. Set in 1926, the first film sees Newt’s collection of Fantastic magical creatures run amok in New York City.

Along the way, Newt meets Porpentina "Tina" Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), a witch and former Auror employed by M.A.C.U.S.A., which is the American version of the Ministry of Magic. He also encounters Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), a Muggle/No-Maj who is accidentally exposed to the Wizarding World upon meeting Newt. Scamander and his new friends must protect the Wizarding world from a new threat- a dangerous magical creature known as an Obscurus.

The second film follows Newt in his efforts to stop the Dark Wizard Grindelwald’s (Johnny Depp) plans to make pure-blood wizards supreme over all non-magical beings. A young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) recruits Newt to help fight against Grindelwald. The Wizarding world is becoming even more dangerous as Newt and his friends must fight the forces of evil once more.
