Based on James Herriot's autobiographical best sellers 'If Only They Could Talk' and 'It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet', the long running TV series All Creatures Great and Small continued to satisfy the Herriot hysteria of the British public.
Starring Christopher Timothy as James Herriot, Robert Hardy as Siegfried Farnon, Peter Davison as Tristan Farnon, John McGlynn as Calum Buchanan and Carol Drinkwater followed by Lynda Bellingham as Helen Herriot.
Siegfried, James and Tristan - our three favourite veterinarians - always have their work cut out for them at their country practice in the verdant Yorkshire Dales. Although life is never less than testing, there is always a great satisfaction in the valuable work they do. So as life moves slowly through peacetime and wartime, why not join us in a simpler, more tranquil time, as we help the sick and injured back to health, whether they have two legs, four legs, hooves, beaks or paws.

Watched many of these delightful episodes when first shown on tv. Had opportunity to view the whole series a few years ago and enjoyed them as much as the first viewing. Now my wife says its time to watch them again at our leisure to enjoy all the colourful characters we are introduced to and at this price we could well afford to. The set is well packed and the only complaint I would have is that there is no printed episode menu supplied, makes it a guessing game to find a particular episode.
It came very quickly & it was in very good condition. Watching the first episode again brought back good memories of my childhood. It was just as good now as it was then, Saturday nights just aren't the same anymore.
A great slab of 80s nostalgia. Great family viewing - as it is set in the 30s and 40s it is as easy to watch now. Tour-de-force as usual by Robert Hardy finely backed up by Christopher Timothy et al. Fantastic value - hours and hours of pure entertainment.
This series is one of the best that the English came up with it is heart warming and a good family series for all.
