Inspired by Mary Norton's classic children's book The Borrowers, tiny 14 year old Arrietty lives under the floorboards of an old house with her father and mother. Their peaceful life is dramatically changed when the ever curious Arrietty accidentally allows herself to be seen by Sho, a poorly and lonesome 12 year old human boy. The fledgling friendship between the two lonely children causes Haru the housekeeper to become aware of the borrowers' existence. The family of little borrowers are forced to choose between staying in their well-established home or leaving for the uncertainty of the great outdoors.

I have purchased this DVD as a gift for someone who specifically asked for it, so this is a great gift.
This animation is so good, I could watch this over and over again, well actually I have because that's what my son has been doing. He loves it.
Arrietty is Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli at their finest. It's based on the story of 'The Borrowers' by Mary Norton but retold with beautifully hand drawn artwork. This is an excellent movie for anyone that enjoys their anime movies.
Arriety is another spectacular entry into the Studio Ghibli collection. It's just as magical as Spirited Away and as homely as Howl's Moving Castle, with a touch of the borrowers thrown in as well. Highly recommended!
Arrietty is another first class production from Studio Ghibli. Possibly more suited to a female audience. However the younger males, up to say 8 years, should enjoy the details of the animals and bird action sequences. If you enjoyed the book by Mary Norton you will enjoy the film as, except for some slight changes in the male main character, the film fairly well follows the book. It is the type of film which makes you want to read the book on which it was based and the further four "Borrowers" books which continue the adventures of Arrietty. The production of the DVD is first class.
Bought this for my daugther as she is a big fan of Studio Ghibli. She really loved this film but thought there could have been more locations as most of the film was set in and around the house.
