Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

You've probably heard about this show by now and there's a good reason for that. Breaking Bad is a drama that immerses you in a very dark world with characters you will love, hate and think about after you've finished watching all the way through. I would caution that as the series progresses, there are scenes that are quite violent and may be difficult to watch for some people. But that's the point, it isn't sunshine and rainbows and it forces you to question your own morals and think about what you would do in the same situation. I haven't seen anything quite like it and would suggest giving this series a go if it at all sounds interesting to you. The character development and story alone are enough for me to give anyone my highest recommendation.
