From producer Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and director Neill Blomkamp comes a startlingly original science fiction thriller that 'soars on the imagination of its creators' (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). With stunning special effects and gritty realism, the film plunges us into a world where the aliens have landed... only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shantytown, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet.

District 9 was directed by Neill Blomkamp from an original screenplay by Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell. Paul Hanson and Elliot Ferwerda co-executive produced. Bill Block and Ken Kamins executive produced. Philippa Boyens co-produced with Peter Jackson and Carolynne Cunningham as producers.

WOW

THIS MOVE IS AMAZING! As soon as this movie starts up you know its not the same as any other alien movie. Basically a load of aliens have for some unknown reason, come to our planet. When we found them they were starved and weak. We kept them prisoner basically in slums and camps to try and find a way to use their weapons, which will only work when used by one of the aliens. So yeah, not your average alien film. Without giving too much away a reporter is going through one of the aliens stuff as they are checking for weapons etc and finds a tube of liquid. He accidentally sprays this liquid on his face and slowly starts to turn into one of the aliens. You can see why the government would now be interested in this person so they try to track him down while he tries to stay alive basically. This movie is really excellent and I could watch it again and again.

Expectations Met !

I had read sooo many top reviews about this film that I decided to buy it. WOW ! I really enjoyed it, a story line different from most sci-fi alien movies with excellent special effects considering it is a low budget movie. It's an emotional roller coaster with several twists and turns, I love the documentary / movie mix and the hand held camera style like in cloverfield. You wont be disapointed if you watch, but you might be if you dont.

A must have movie

Having seen District 9 at the cinema I cannot wait for this to be released. A great film with fantastic special effects and an interesting and different story line. For all fans of Sci-Fi, this is one for the collection.
