Five hundred years in the future there's a whole new frontier, and a crew of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.

Such a Shame they were only allowed one season of what has turned out to be a runaway cult classic, a flotsam crew each with an awesome individuality that makes you want to find out more about these amazing characters. If you aim to misbehave you would be hard pressed to find a better berth on any other vessel in the verse, so jump aboard and join the adventure, you won't be disappointed :) . Shiny ...
Firefly is probably some of Jess Whedon's best work. It encompasses a number of genre in a single series (It pains me that Firefly did not get the many reprieves afforded Star Trek) On the surface Firefly is classic science fiction, the tale of a motley crew of fugitives, from a war they lost ,surviving as mercenaries on a ramshackled starship. However, when Malcolm Reynolds and his crew land on a planet , the setting changes radically. In most episodes Firefly is a classic Western, landscape, fashions, storylines, even the weaponry looks more Magnificent Seven than Aliens. At other times the crew may face gangsters or hoodwink the Alliance forces (who appear to have borrowed their kit from the Federation in Starship Troopers). This series is the perfect enterainment for the discerning movie geek or gamer. If you prefer your SF a little more gritty, buy this. If you're a fan of the modern Western, buy this. If you admired Nathan Fillon in Castle and Morwenna Banks in Homeland, definitely buy this. And while you have the chance, buy the movie Serenity and finish the story.
I've loved this short-lived series for a long time and it's nice to finally have the box set. Looking forward to seeing the special features!
This series is amazing, so disappointing it got cancelled. Gripping, involved and you'll want to watch episode after episode.
I knew of the series from the film Serenity and then from frequent mention in the Big Bang Theory - so decided to give the series a try. As with many of the comments as to why this series was cancelled after such a short run - why? I found the realism of the characters, plots and special effects refreshing - when compared against Babylon 5 there is no comparison - Firefly is superior in every way. Just a shame that this is all there is - well worth buying.
Excellent service all round, great price, fast delivery and very well packaged. First class. Firefly is a classic TV series.
Lots of fun sci fi. Well written, well acted. Great feel for space/ cowboy design with lovely special effects. Doesn't take itself seriously either. One or two of the actors may lack the charisma of true stars. Rather like Blakes 7 with a with a great twist.
This is a show that could have run so much longer than just this one series, the characters are so well portrayed, the visual effects are stunning and the writing is superb. Joss Whedon created something magical with Firefly and it is shame that is was cut short by the network. The premise of the show is better than most other sic-fi programs. This can be recommended to those who love sic-fi and those who hate it, everyone can find something to like in this.
