THE RIVALS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES is a British TV series based on the adventures of a string of fictional detectives, such as Lady Molly of Scotland Yard, Dr. Thorndyke and Carnacki. All of them are literary contemporaries of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's popular character, hence the title of the show. The first series was comprised of thirteen 50 minute episodes and was aired in 1971.

Rivals Of Sherlock Holmes has some big names in terms of cast. Varied collection of detectives but good simple whodunnits which put Conan Doyle's work in context and offer further insights into the genre as a whole.
