    Stars of the series include Derren Nesbitt as Detective Inspector Jordan, Wensley Pithey as Detective Superintendent Eden, and Fulton Mackay as Detective Superintendent Inman. Revamped in 1973, George Sewell starred as Chief Inspector Alan Craven, and Roger Rowland as Detective Sergeant Bill North. The producers later introduced Patrick Mower as Detective Chief Inspector Tom Haggerty.

    Originally filmed in black and white, the series transitioned to colour following the change in cast and format.
