The Brothers - Complete Series 1
  • Description

One of the BBC's most popular drama series of the 1970s, The Brothers followed the lives of the Hammond family and their successful road haulage company.

Digitally remastered and available for the first time on DVD, the first series of The Brothers begins with a family in mourning-cruelly torn apart by secrets, lies and betrayals.

Led by their domineering mother, Mary Hammond (Jean Anderson), the Hammond brothers Edward (Glyn Owen), Brian (Richard Easton) and David (Robin Chadwick) return home for the reading of their father's will - only to learn that Robert's young secretary Jennifer Kingsley (Jennifer Wilson) has also been invited,

Edward expects to inherit the family business: after all Brian, married to the scheming Anne (Hilary Tindall), is a well-paid accountant and David is a disinterested playboy with a glamorous girlfriend, Jill (Gabrielle Drake). But Edward is shocked to discover that not only does his father's will demand each brother owns twenty fiver per cent of the company, but the last quarter goes to Jennifer...

Forced into alliances that no one wants, the three brothers and Jennifer must find a way to work together, whilst Mary wonders how many other skeletons are going to come tumbling out of the closet to destroy the family....

This DVD release features all 10 episodes from the first series, broadcast in 1972.
