The Way Back is an incredible story of survival against the odds, based on true events and directed by Oscar nominee Peter Weir. Janusz (Jim Sturgess) is a young military officer trapped in an unholy, Soviet gulag in Stalin-era Russia. He, along with six others plan an escape, but the escape was the easy part. On their immense mission to freedom they are forced to walk 4,000 miles across some of the most treacherous terrain in the world, crossing the Siberian Arctic, as well as the Gobi desert and the deadly Himalayas before finally reaching their destination; India, where they hope they will finally be in safety.
