On The Drug-Infested Streets Of West Baltimore, There Are Good Guys And There Are Bad Guys. Sometimes You Need More Than A Badge To Tell Them Apart.

From David Simon, creator and co-writer of HBO's triple Emmy Award-winning mini-series The Corner, this unvarnished, highly realistic drama series follows a single sprawling drug and murder investigation in Baltimore - one that culminates in a complex series of dangerous wiretaps and surveillance. Told from the points of view of both the police and their targets, the series captures a universe where easy distinctions between good and evil, and crime and punishment, are challenged at every turn.

The Wire is without doubt the greatest television series ever made. I say that without hyperbole or exaggeration . On the surface it may look like a cop show, but things aren't that easy in the Wire. The drug dealers are given depth and the reasons why they have ended up in this situation are explored and the police aren't hunting them for any other reason but intellectual superiority. Although season 1 looks at a small part of Baltimore life the season eventually shows a microcosm of the war on drugs effect on all aspects of a city. It is brilliantly realistic gripping and flawless on every level.
