If you’re a fan of Digimon, a.k.a.Digital Monsters, is a Japanese franchise that covers virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films, and a trading card game.

The franchise centres around creatures called Digimon, who inhabit a digital world which is a parallel universe that originated from Earth's communication networks.

Inspired by the Tamagotchi virtual pets that were released in 1996, the virtual Digimon pets were made popular by the release of its first anime series called Digimon Adventure, and the video game called Digimon World, in 1999.

In the series, seven kids at a summer camp in Japan are transported to an alternate world called Digiworld. Digiworld is linked to ours by the Information Superhighway.

The kids make friends with strange creatures called Digimon who become stranger as they evolve, or ‘digivolve’. The kids learn that they and the Digimon are the only hope of saving both Earth andDigiworld from destruction.
