Pack Your Dumb and Dumber Clothes for a Trip down Memory Lane

Since the comedy film Dumb and Dumber was released in 1994, it has become a fan favourite. The impeccable comedic acting of Jim Carrey (as Lloyd Christmas) and Jeff Daniels (Harry Dunne) has cemented this feature-length movie as one of the all-time classics of the genre, simultaneously making the duo’s characters instantly recognisable and beloved.

Few can forget the series of events that occur throughout the duration of the original movie, the events to which our in-house team of clothing designers have looked for inspiration. And nor should they. When Lloyd picks up the suitcase left behind by Mary Swanson (played by Lauren Holly), what follows is absolute comedy gold.

Equipped with their dashing good looks and borderline-genius wit (yes, we’re being sarcastic), Lloyd and his friend Harry set out on a quest to return this lost property. What they don’t realise, however, is that they’re being pursued by Joe ‘Mental’ Mentalino (Mike Starr) and J. P. Shay (Karen Duffy), two miscreants responsible for kidnapping Mary’s husband. The suitcase, filled with cash, was not lost but purposefully abandoned so that the captors would release their hostage.

How unfortunate it was that Lloyd developed a crush — for the people involved, that is. If it hadn’t been for Carrey’s lovable idiot, we wouldn’t have had the chance to enjoy this entertaining ride of a film.
