‘Fish Are Friends, Not Food’

Finding Nemo took the world down the water rapids when it released in 2003, becoming the second highest-grossing film of the year and winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The film presents a heart-wrenching tail of unconditional parental love as a clownfish called Marlin attempts to track down his son, Nemo, after he was taken by scuba divers.

Encountering a blue tang by the name of Dory, a fish with short-term memory loss, the pair venture into the far reaches of the ocean. Along their journey, they come across friendly sharks, whales, jellyfish, and totally radical turtles.

Meanwhile, Nemo is being housed in a dentist’s fish tank in Sydney. Inside the aquarium lives the Tank Gang, composed of yellow tang Bubbles, starfish Peach, cleaner shrimp Jacques, blowfish Bloat, royal gramma Gurgle, damselfish Deb, and a Moorish idol called Gill. He learns that he is to be presented as a gift to Darla, the dentist’s niece – who is known for killing her pet fish.

While Marlin comes to the rescue, Nemo must also find his own way free...

Finding Dory

In 2016, a follow-up film was released: Finding Dory.

This film is set one year after the events of Finding Nemo, depicting Dory’s journey to reunite with her parents after she slowly starts to recover fragments of her memory.

Her journey takes her on a path of rediscovery, encountering old friends and making new ones.
