Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Great zombie killing game, especially with a friend! Bit disappointed the area was the same as the previous game.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

What can I say, it's amazing fun and amazingly satisfying! Having never played a dead rising game before this is an absolute bargain, the sheer amount to do in the time limit means you'll end up replaying, the game's mechanic of keeping levels etc. making this no particular chore. The character's are interesting in odd (and often unlikeable ways!) without distracting from the story. Add to this the sheer craziness of the weapon combos and the numerous crazies that provide the game's real challenges and strangest moments. This is easily worth the money charged here, the story mode is lengthy and you'll play it more than once. However, from pure hearsay as I have no experience myself, the game does not add a huge deal to the original DR2. Thus, for those who've played the original, it may not be worth the extra cash to play as West.

More of the same isn't a bad thing all the time

Dead Rising has always been a camp, b-movie like game that never took itself seriously and those themes carry on into this game. Off the record is literally just dead rising 2 swapped with a 'what if' idea, what if Frank West had been the one who needed money instead of Chuck, story wise its nothing new and there are a few changes like someone else taking the blame for an act that would have been blamed on Chuck, but its the gameplay that people play these games for. The gameplay is fun and satisfying, especially when you make your first combo weapon (baseball bat with nails being my favourite) the dialogue is hilarious and cross dressing as a woman while wearing a dinosaur mask NEVER gets old. Its these moments that make Dead Rising what it is. In addition to all of that you have the privilege of playing with a buddy who, instead of playing as a clone of Frank, take over from Chuck, who has all of his speech from 2 and all of his original moves so if you're still a fan of Chuck you can whack co op mode on and get into his IJEIK jacket but its in co-op mode that the memorable moments happen, when you and your friend just mess about and try to out silly each other in game is just a brilliant way to play and I love how Capcom have captured that, despite the co op having a few flaws and being a bit of a shoddy port to PC that still shouldn't let you stop you from enjoying this. I would recommend purchasing this game if you have a buddy to play with but its still a blast on your own
