What i'm loving about this game is how it's not just a button basher like previous games in the series, this time you have to use your brain and think to pull off that perfect combo

Very Good

I really enjoyed playing this game. I think that (at this price) it's a Must-Buy, even if you are not a long-date fan of the DMC saga. (The story is quite unrelated to the other chapters)

Not Dante but still good

Despite the new look Dante, the new team of programmers and so on, this is a very good hack n' slash game. I really enjoyed it. It could have been more elaborated visually, some details are quite ugly but in the whole the game deserves a chance to be played. Personally I think that sometimes a complete reboot is necessary as not to fall in monotony. Once the new aspect of the character is assumed and forgetting all about the former DMC, entertainment is guaranteed. And by the way, who in the hell would wear a red coat and trousers to hunt demons?

Absolutely fantastic game

I was initially very hesitant about this game, not so much because of the different story or Dante looking less like a typical pretty boy with his white hair but because this was a game being developed by Ninja Theory who have in the past not exactly delivered well on the combat aspect of their games. However as more trailers and previews were released this game began to entice me in with its absolutely gorgeous Limbo world and then they revealed the combatÂ… well it was a day one purchase after that. The storyline is nothing breathtaking and new but is no less enjoyable despite this and one particular scene near to the halfway point at the game tugged at my heartstrings. The combat takes some getting used to since every button has a different job to do and I must admit fighting the colour coded enemies could get a little tedious because of my dislike for one of the weapons but thats a personal niggle and graphically the game is an absolute work of art that does a fantastic job of presenting not only the modern world but the evil truth behind said world Mission 13 in particular was a visual delight. This game also has a lot of replay value with 5 difficulty modes, unlockable costumes and newer content in the form of the free to download Bloody Palace mode from the PSN and the soon to be released Vergil-centric DLC so if you have the money I would highly recommend giving this game a go.

My thumbs are sore.........

This game starts with Dante in his trailer after a night of heavy boozing and whoring, good old Dante. When he is attacked his method of clothing himself is done in a very inventive way that looks like it was directed by Zack Snyder but written by Lloyd Kauffman. The artistic director on this game is a genius. And with that I was fully prepared for what this game was all about. Serious stuff happens to Dante and he treats it with a "wry" quip, as if he's done it all before. Story-wise it was really well put together. Elements of the original were updated with care and really only to explain who he is and what he does. Ebony and Ivory are back, along with his sword, Rebellion. New blades are added as the game progresses allowing Dante to access different colored portals to alternate routes through the levels. The guns are not very powerful at the start, (I've not finished the game at the time of writing, only about half-way through). Keys are also to be found scattered around the levels which open doors to bonus games, ranging from the very easy to the joypad-breakingly hard. Bosses are big, as you'd expect, and beating them usually involves the use of any and all of Dantes' arsenal. This felt a bit "God of War"-sy for me, but I digress. The method of switching between weapons is tough at the start but after a while it becomes almost second nature. Only thing I'd say to a relatively new gamer is; be prepared to get frustrated at times. There is definitely a bigger exploration aspect to this game than I was expecting, you don't just run through the levels at break-neck speed if you know what's good for you. I'm giving DMC 4/5 because I'm playing on PS3 and it is slightly buggy. Other than that, if you like action that's fast and frantic, you will love DMC.
