I bought the PS3 Collector's Edition of Risen 2 from Zavvi which arrived very quickly in 3 days. The price I paid was amazing value for money. Some people might say that this is because the game is rubbish, but I would disagree: the combat does start off terrible, although later upgrades make it tolerable. However, although the graphics are also a bit below average, the environments and sense of place somehow manage to be amazing! I am about 25 hours in, thoroughly immersed in a pirate way and enjoying it immensely!

Nice game, the graphics are not a miracle but it makes you have fun and even then, it starts slowly but after a few hours of gameplay the game gets fairly deep, a good game with some flaws but fun, if you like pirates and galleons and treasure islands will be satisfied.

Risen 2: Dark Waters is like Oblivion crossed with Assassins Creed 4, and with the development budget of neither. OK, so the graphics aren't big-budget and neither are the character animations, but the lighting and water effects combine with a beautiful environment to make a game that's visually much more appealing than its individual parts would suggest. Great ambient sounds and music create an absorbing atmosphere, and it's lots of fun finding treasure maps hidden around and then following them to the traditional X. There is a certain thieving little character that you meet later on that is worth the price of the game alone. The voice acting and mild humour are understated, in a good way, which makes a nice change from the usual snarling idiots and dead-eyed meat puppets in a lot of games (though the facial-animation is nearly non-existent). Combat generally seems clunky and limited initially, but as the player progresses, counter-attacks and the like become available and the whole fighting system opens up and becomes quite satisfying. This is a great little 3rd person RPG that, if you don't expect too much from it, rewards the player with many hours of fun and sun-soaked island exploration.
