Story:
Deadly Premonition follows the adventures of Special Agent Francis York Morgan sent to the fictional Pacific Northwest town of Greenvale to investigate the brutal murder of a young local beauty. Amidst the backdrop of soaring mountains and a town filled with eccentric natives, Agent Morgan must solve the mystery of the Red Seed Murders and stay alive in a place where supernatural creatures and a legendary folklore killer seek to end his investigation permanently.
Gameplay:
Action in Deadly Premonition is split between investigative gameplay required to solve the series of murders that have been committed in Greenvale and combat tactics needed to survive the bevy of creatures that inexplicably lurk the town and its surroundings. The game features a persistent open world which the player in the role of Agent Morgan can explore at will, searching for clues and observing and/or interacting with non-player characters (NPCs). The game is populated with more than 30 NPCs, each with its own personality, backstory, etc. These townspeople are wary of becoming the next victim of the murderer on the loose, and one perhaps of being exposed as the killer. Because of the variety of NPC attitudes toward Agent Morgan and his investigation, as well as the persistent gameworld allowing them to have their own schedules which vary from hour to hour, players can stalk them, hoping to reveal clues, character insights and even side quests. Deadly Premonition also contains a wealth of horror-survival combat gameplay. As players crisscross the gameworld in search of clues to the murders, they will encounter dangerous, otherworldly creatures. Some of these like the zombie like "Shadows" can be dealt with using a variety of melee weapons and firearms available in the game, but players will also encounter the legendary axe-wielding fiend known as the "Raincoat Killer". What if any connection is there between these creatures and the murders afflicting the town? That is up to you to determine. What is certain though is that they pose an immediate and very real threat to your survival, making players’ decisions whether to run or stand his ground crucial in each varying situation.

If you like good story in a game, try Deadly Premonition! Technically, it's far from perfect, but the game story is incredible and the characters are really good!
The map is nice and open and the locations are cool too. The characters are fantastic, the music is compelling, and the story is epic. Best of all, It's Twin Peaks with all the madness and humour and it really is engrossing. The graphics might not be the best and the driving is quite poor but manageable, The map when driving will take some getting used to as it's static and the combat is Resident evil 4ish but not as good. But I don't care about any of the bad points as games like this are very rare nowadays now that 3rd party games are pretty much redundant due to large companies swallowing up the market. I will say that it is a typical Marmite game. Saying that, I myself Love it!
This game is weird, a little experimental and doesn't look great, or would have on a PS2. But it's a new twist on the survival horror genre, and has cult elements like references to b-movies, games (shenmue, etc), but mostly improves in gameplay by combining elements of adventure / case solving in an open world environment with a silent hill type horror setting, making the game deeper, longer and more immersive than any survival before. So if you can get past the poor graphics, which aren't so bad if you're a Shenmue fan BTW, the game is rich, has a cool and refreshing offbeat tone and not only delivers a great story and experience, but manages somehow to make bizarre, scary, funny, geeky-nerdy, sarcastic and weird all come together.
The controls and graphics might not be good but everything else just suits me well. I would say that the game is very artistic/fantasy similar to that of silent hill. Lots of story animation and you just want to listen to the story and not skip a bit. I am now an occasional gamer as I cannot find the time, however this game is not very hard, the shooting is similar to resident evil and there is not much new to learn which is perfect. This is a perfect game for a casual gamer who loves a game with a great story line and not too hard to get into.
I've been playing games since I was very young and this is the first game ever to really strike an emotional chord with me. The game play wont win any awards, but no matter what downsides this game throws at you like bad car handling, mediocre graphics and awkward combat, the game's narrative is the best I've seen in a game. It's a tribute to Twin Peaks and really captures the mentality and weirdness of the show. If you like horror games and Twin Peaks, then this is a MUST for you. Seriously, it's cheap and if you forgive it it's flaws, you will be in for an amazing experience.
This is an amazing game if you don't mind the last gen graphics and clunky controls. The bulk of development time has gone into the story and it shows. Unique characters and a fantastic plot that is only slightly let down by the last couple of hours when it feels like the devs just didn't want it to end so put in one plot twist many. Kind of like a cheap slasher film where they have to go for that one last scare and it nearly always falls flat. Gameplay is similar to Resident Evil 4 and 5, over the shoulder. Shooting bad guys in the face until they fall over, then exploring and doing the odd puzzle. That is one aspect of the game. The other is a free roaming area where you have a small American town full of bizarre characters and side missions to explore. The driving controls can be a bit clunky and there is a lot of back and forth but again, the story and characters make up for it. One of my favourite games of last year but if you care about graphics and big explosions this isn't the game for you. If you want a story though then you owe it to yourself to at least give this game a try.
Graphics for this game look amazing, good game with a thriller twist to it, prepare for an ultimate scare game. Can't wait for the release, get pre-ordering now, it will be the best game out for thrills and scares..
