Gears of War: Judgment takes you back before the events of the original Gears of War trilogy to the immediate aftermath of Emergence Day — the defining event of the Gears of War universe.

Follow Kilo Squad, led by Damon Baird and Augustus The Cole Train Cole, as they fight to save the city of Halvo Bay from an unstoppable enemy in the most intense Gears game yet.

Gears of War: Judgment introduces a variety of new multiplayer experiences, including OverRun, a thrilling new class-based competitive mode that will pit Locust and COG soldiers in a head-to-head battle unlike anything Gears fans have experienced yet.

Additionally , Microsoft and Epic Games also announced that initial launch quantities of “Gears of War: Judgment” will include a Games on Demand Xbox LIVE download token for the epic game that started it all, “Gears of War”. Research indicates that more than half of the consumers who played “Gears of War 3” did so without having experienced the original title from Epic Games. This added bonus, a £19.99 value, offers veteran fans and newcomers alike a fantastic way to re-experience the iconic game that sparked one of this generation’s most beloved and critically-acclaimed franchises and connect with the prequel storyline of “Gears of War: Judgment.”

Gears of War

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

Don't get me wrong, I love Gears of War from day one, but Gears of War: Judgment just doesn't do it for me. 3 was amazing, but this one is just boring and the online play is, well, rubbish.

A diferent Gears game and a great value.

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

This is a diferent Gears but most changes fit well enough to the main campaing, shorter than the rest of the franchise but built in with nice replay options. The control scheme and gameplay are now faster but this is definetly a good thing after 3 games playing the same way. The flashback style around the story feels refreshing and once you fininsh the game youll unlock a side chapter, a kind of non released dlc from Gow 3 that last you for another hour and a half and reunites events and charaters from Judgment and Gears 3. The lack of content, options and maps in the multiplayer may be the weakest part of the package, its fun but feels repetitive after a couple of weeks. In addition Judgment inludes a token for a digital copy of the first Gears.

Can't say I ever thought that Gear of War franchise is a masterpiece. But it's one of those games that you 'must' play on your Xbox 360 if you try not to miss an exclusives. Same goes for Halo (can't name it a masterpiece too) and Forza series. Anyway, I played all previous GOW games and I must say I like this new one more than the previous. Hard to tell why - there aren't any noticeable changes. But this time I had no felling that I want it to end, so it's at least not boring or too repetitive. Yes, it's same old game - you just shoot dozens of enemies, go to next room, shoot 100 more, go to next room etc. But Epic Games added (at least can't remember that feature from any of the previous ones) challenges for each chapter and these make the game challenging and fun. Graphics is nice, as usual. Story is...well...nothing out of this World. Can't really name any major drawbacks - maybe your buddies AI is a bit dumb, but this is like that in most of the games. But I played a bit of online co-op and must say that there are many even dumber real players. All in all it's a nice game and a must at this price. And the story isn't too short, so it's a good value even if you're not into multiplayer like me.

Gow Judgement

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

This game is the very best in his category. If you played the other Gow series you will be fully satisfied. It brings the old Gow felling back, with other extras and team fighting, also with great story mode. I highly recommend multiplayer (new game modes included) for the best gaming experience. Class-based fighting require tactics and skill. If you haven't played any of the GOW series before, and you like action-based tps games this is the best choice for you. 20hours of single player which includes up to 4player co-op. Get in the battle!

A decent follow up

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

Having played all of the Gears games I was anxious to try this one out.. the campaign is as good as any of the others and the nww star system makes you want to replay sections to get better at them. Although the multiplayer has been overhauled too I would say it plays differently online to any of the others but its still a good experience.

Classic Gears Action

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

As usual Gears of War: Judgment is a classic gears game. It features familiar gameplay, with some nice new additions (declassified challenges, new weapons) and as always an amazing storyline. If you like Gears, you will love this addition to the adventure.

No classic... but okay

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

If you know the first 3 GOW titles and like them a lot, you will be confused a little bit in the multiplayer mode. The controller settings (max 2 weapons, change with Y) is now "newbie friendly". Even there is no feeling of any server host advantages, some weapons are unbalanced. For example the Gnasher Shotgun (with max. 4 shots in a row) is like a far distance one-shot killing machine while the sawed-off version (with max. 2 shots in a row) minimum needs 2 shots and a punch to strike down an enemy. There are 3 kinds of long distance weapons: the sniper rifle as you know it, the markza (which is useless when your not aiming constantly at the opponent's head) and the Breechshot (which is really strong and useful cause of its mounted blade for short distance attacks). But 3 sniper rifles is like overdosing on them. At the end, the MP modus is acceptable but not a big wow at all. The single player with its story is okay but is nothing special. It's more a patchwork story around the gang of the GOW protagonist Marcus Fenix. As a real fan of the game it is a bad prologue with pseudo fancy video sequences and boring story segments. If you are new to GOW, it is a good entry to get a basic feeling for the game. But it is no catcher which convinces you to be a full fan, which is sad. You can feel that Cliffy B didn't have any real influences in this production. Hopefully this was just a release to fill the gap.
