John Carpenter's classic 1980 horror THE FOG has been stunningly restored in 4K. Antonio Bay, California has turned a hundred years old. As the residents of this small, quaint harbour town begin to celebrate, an eerie fog envelops the shore and from its midst emerge dripping, demonic spectres, victims of a century old shipwreck, seeking revenge. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, the FOG is a tense and ghoulish tale that confirms John Carpenter as a master of terror.
The 2018 restoration of THE FOG was made using the original camera negative which was scanned at 4K resolution in 16bit and we applied a HDR Dolby Vision workflow to the restoration process which resulted in the creation of a 4K DCP, HDR & SDR UHD version and a new SDR HD version which were produced with the same high technological standards as today's biggest international film releases.

Great film. If you like John carpenter, it's a must have. A wonderful ghost story layered with deeper meaning. 4K transfer is good. Fully recommend

DARK DAYS.

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I bought this as it is one of my favorite Carpenter movies. Only having the dvd, I jumped at the chance to get a better quality version. A double whammy, 4K & Blu-ray in 1 package. The Blu-ray is fantastic, great sharp picture & sound. 4K however is not so.  Color is too vivid & very OTT, it’s also too dark, even in the daytimes scenes. Poor restoration. Very disappointing!. Blu-ray *****  4K ***.

Beware the fog....

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

After being aware of this film growing up, I've wanted to see this film for a long time. I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint. Anything attached to John Carpenter is likely a safe bet. Yes, it's born from 1980, but it's still very watchable and a great way to spend 1hr 31mins. Recommended.

Bit dated. But still good to watch

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

I like all of the John Carpenter films. Along with Escape From New York. This looks a bit dated and it didn't have the biggest budget. Ok it's not the greatest film you will ever see but it entertains, and it is a bit scary in parts. Good to see such a young Jamie Lee Curtis. That's a bonus. But just sit back, open a few beers, and enjoy.
