Imagine your worst fear a reality with this brand new 4K 40th anniversary restoration of The Howling, approved by Director Joe Dante (Gremlins). With ground-breaking special effects by Rob Bottin (The Thing, The Fog, Total Recall), The Howling has been stunningly restored for a new generation of horror fans. Graphically violent, sexually explicit and nightmarishly intense, it remains one of the most original werewolf movies of the eighties.

After an intense confrontation with a serial killer, news anchor Karen White (Dee Wallace) is left traumatised and suffering from amnesia. In need of recovery, Karen takes refuge within "The Colony", a country retreat organised by her psychiatrist Dr Waggner (Patrick Macnee). But things at "The Colony" aren't as idyllic as they originally seemed and as blood curdling screams break the midnight silence, Karen's memories slowly begin to come into focus.

Great transfer

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This film still holds up pretty well. The picture quality is excellent and the sound is very good. The extras are on the 4k disc, and are very entertaining, especially Joe Dante. All in all its a very nice steelbook package, with nice metallic artwork on cover and back. 8/10

The Howling 4k Steelbook

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

One of my favourite horror movies of the early eighties, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a decent transfer and I wasn't disappointed. The 4k transfer is glorious with a thumping new sound upgrade, add to that packaged in a georgious steelbook and its a winner. I recommend this to the serious collector.

The Howling 4K Steelbook

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

The steelbook itself looks awesome, and the extra features on the disc are really good too, it I have to admit to being a little disappointed with the 4K version of the film. Although the picture quality is sharper, it looks darker than the dvd I had of this film. Not sure quite why this is, and expected it too look better as it’s 4K, but am glad I also have the blu ray version (which I’ll watch at some point). So one star off for the picture quality of the 4K version.

great steel book 4k presentation. HDR makes this film better than it has ever looked before, well worth the price for this 4k bluray. Delivery was fast and very well packed to protect the steel book casing. Zavvi had the best pricing for this 4k bluray and they did not let me down on delivering the goods. A+++++

Saw this at the flicks many, many moons ago and this 4k version is superb.A very nice steelbook, just a shame we didn't get a Dolby Atmos vor DTSxvsoundtrack but the DTS hd isn't bad, highly recommended for horror fans.

Great classic horror movie. The 4k version looks and sounds better than ever, nice and clear picture with a little grain and softness in parts. The werewolf effects are great and a precursor to American Werewolf in London. The steel book from Zavvi shows the original poster art.
