Based on real events, the dramatic thriller "Argo" chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis, focusing on the little-known role that the CIA and Hollywood played - information that was not declassified until many years after the event. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, the Canadian and American governments ask the CIA to intervene. The CIA turns to their top "exfiltration" specialist, Tony Mendez, to come up with a plan to get the six Americans safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

ARGO

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Excellent fact based thriller. Best or some time. Tension until the very end with superb comedy one liners thrown in to ease it a little from the boys from Hollywood, recruited by the CIA/US Government. Never realised how bad the situation was for these people caught up in the crisis in Iran, back in the late 70's. Film portrays the most weird way to rescue hostages from a life & politically defining moment. Recommended viewing.

Argo easy on it

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

A pretty good film, and a very comprehensive Blu-ray. Comes with a UV copy if you're interested in that sort of thing. Argo does capture another era very well. It isn't a complicated story, but does build tension and interest in spite of this. Some basic character-building elements are oddly missing, and would have ratcheted up the atmosphere another level. Overall, recommended though. Worth at least a couple of viewings.

I heard such good things, and Argo lived up to the hype.

Affleck's Argo

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Bit hesitant at first to buy this but as ben Affleck has been astounding of late so went with it. Does not disappoint as it is an excellent, interesting movie that will move you. All star cast of Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman push the boundaries and deliver the goods. Extended cut on blu ray, good picture and sound quality at a good price so worthy of 5 stars

I am not going to say to much about this film as I don't want to give any part of the story away but I have to say it's excellent! A great film and well worth buying.
