There's a lot to like about this (belated) Black Widow origin film, and there's enough action and plot to make it a solid 3-star experience. Scarlett Johansson and (especially) Florence Pugh are terrific in the key roles, but the whole shebang is almost derailed by Ray Winstone's quasi-pantomime performance as Dreykov, and the climactic fight aboard the disintegrating Red Room base feels under-choreographed and light on decent CGI. 3-stars, but really it could (and should) have been much better.
