In a legendary performance, three-time Academy Award winner Jack Nicholson stars as private eye Jake Gittes. Hired by a mysterious woman to investigate Hollis Mulwray, the chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Gittes' sleuthing brings him into contact with Mulwray's wife (Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway), a stunning socialite with secrets of her own. As a determined Gittes delves deeper he soon realises that even the City of Angels has a dark side. Director Roman Polanski's Chinatown has evolved from an atmospheric film noir mystery into a modern-day classic, with Robert Towne's Academy Award-winning script unforgettably and brilliantly capturing a lost era of deceit, corruption and treachery.

Chinatow a real masterpiece

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Chinatown is really a gem. The atmosphere is gripping, the acting really spot on and the scenario deep enough to have several layers. Jack Nicholson is really shining (pun non intended) and the chemistry works fine. Actually it looks like an LA Confidential without the violence to me and I really hope that the follow up will actually get the same treatment. The Blu-ray in itself is good quality, nothing stellar but no obvious defects in my eyes.

Thought it would have the extras on the disc but it doesn't. Film only. Chinatown is a great film but disappointed there are no extras.

Chinatown looks quality in blu ray. It's a pity Paramount didn't include any extras like they did in the US version. Smacks of discrimination.
