Excellent movie

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

However I purchased this version on the recommendation of a review as a directors cut. But when it arrived I realised that it was a theatrical version thou I purchased this on the basis that it was a directors cut the film nonetheless is epic memorable movie, shame I didn't order the new two disc anniversary edition

A Masterpiece

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

There are few movies that you think are superb and then you see the directors cut and are taken to a new level. The directors cut is the full movie as it was felt an audience could not cope with the extra hour ish. However the original was sensational, but the directors cut takes you to a new place as it enlightens you to the background more fully so the movie makes perfect sense. You grow with the character and it takes you through a history of film as well and the churches influence on censorship, its not a USA blockbuster movie more a charming journey through a life that makes you feel good a brilliant Italian Masterpiece.
