From acclaimed writer/director Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) comes Ex_Machina, a chilling vision of the not-too-distant future of artificial intelligence.

In the mountain retreat of a gifted internet billionaire, a young man takes part in a strange experiment: testing an artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl. But the experiment twists into a dark psychological battle, where loyalties are torn between man and machine.

Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander lead the cast of Ex_Machina, an intense psychological thriller, played out in a love triangle. The film explores big ideas about the nature of consciousness, emotion, sexuality, truth and lies.

'Smart, Funny, Gripping and Disturbing...Stunning.' - Chris Tilly, IGN

Excellent

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

What you get with Ex Machina is a very thought provoking movie about the nature of artificial intelligence, and to what degree humanity should press forward with advances in this field. I found the movie absolutely fascinating; fans of explosion laden sci-fi movies be warned; its not that kind of film at all!

Ex_Machina is Ex_Cellent!

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Ex Machina is an intelligent and thought provoking thriller in the same vein as the sort of stories you'd find in Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror series. With current advances in technology the themes in Ex Machina could be predictor of a not too distant future and leaves us with the question: just because we can it doesn't necessarily mean that we should. With a film that centres on only three character just added to the tension and gave a feeling of isolation to the movie.

Smart SciFi

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Thoroughly absorbing movie with a smart script and superb performances form all, especially the three leads. Definitely one that will benefit from repeated viewings and at the Zavvi price it's a bargain addition to the library.

Great Sci-Fi film, great twists

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

For a low budget film it did really well and the film looked impressive throughout. A great sci-fi film that is gripping from start to finish.

Difficult to stay awake!

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

I really had a problem staying awake and just about made it to the end of the film. The CGI was excellent but the rest of the film was boooooooring! Sorry to be be so pessimistic about it; but this is one to rent and not buy - but of course it's a matter of taste....f
