Life On Mars sees 21st century cop Sam Tyler (John Simm) hit by a car only to find himself in the Manchester of 1973. The world of the nineteen-seventies is a confusing and frustrating place for Sam particularly his superior DCI Gene Hunt (Phillip Glenister) who himself is the very embodiment of the unrepentant politically incorrect man of the time. But perhaps if he can discover the reason he is stuck in this world he can find a way home...

I bought Life on Mars on the back of other peoples opinions of the show and I wasn't disappointed! The story is played out cleverly, and never let up, keeping me hooked right until the end of the second disk. They capture an authentic view of the 70s, with the period cars, settings and excellent characters. If you like cop shows, then Life on Mars will really grab you - it really is up there amongst the best!

It is the main characters that make this title so compelling - Sam Tyler is a great character, portrayed as the whiter than white cop, pitted alongside Gene Hunt, a copper who will get the job done, no matter how or what he has to do, and when a suspect doesn't appear, has a tendency to 'find' a perfect fit... If you like cop shows, then this will really grab you - it really is up there amongst the best!
