MacArthur is a thoughtful look at the life and times of controversial American military leader General Douglas MacArthur. Directed by Joseph Sargent (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three), this celebrated biopic features a hugely authoritative central performance by Gregory Peck, and strong support from Ed Flanders (The Ninth Configuration) and Dan O#39;Herlihy (Imitation of Life), who play Presidents Harry S Truman and Franklin D Roosevelt, respectively.

What I like about the Indicator Powerhouse releases are their attention to detail and focus on quality. From the thick glossy booklets to the actual film transfers which are always superb. The double sided artwork is also worth highlighting so you can choose which one to display. Regarding this MacArthur release, the film is good but wouldn’t be my favourite biopic. Seeing the different international and US versions are interesting and whilst there aren’t many bonus features, the extensive booklet makes up for what is lacking. By the way, Jerry Goldsmith provided a fabulous score! Highly recommended.
