The Mist

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

This 2 disc special Blu ray has both the colour and black and white version of Stephen King's The Mist. With Darabont bringing King's imagination to life on screen yet again following on from past hits The Shawshark Redemption and the The Green Mile you know you're in for 5* movie terror. With Darabont creating an even darker more terrifying ending compared to King's original short story fans of both will not be disappointed. While it may be a traditional 'Monster' movie, the true terror is in the choices made when ordinary people are put in extraordinary situations.

This is another wonderful combination of a great Stephen King short story and Frank Darabont's directorial prowess. If you have enjoyed the hopeful yet harrowing 'Shawshank Redemption' or the magic and intrigue of 'The Green Mile', then you are sure to enjoy the terror and mystery of this latest King/Darabont collaboration. Trapped in a supermarket, the remaining inhabitants of a small American town decide how to deal with the deadly mist that has enveloped their small town. As always with a King adaptation, the characters represent a microsm of society, confined to the store in which they are holed up in. As the terror increases, as does the conflict between the towns people. This truly is a horror story that will have you on the edge of your seat or cowering behind the sofa as the reality of the situation reveals itself in the film's conclusion. This blu-ray version can be viewed in colour, or as Darabont originally intended, in black and white.
