Wrongly accused city banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) arrives at Shawshank Prison in 1947 after receiving a double life sentence for the brutal murders of his wife and her lover. He discovers that when they send you to Shawshank for life...that's exactly what they take.
His quiet strength slowly earns him the respect and friendship of the prison fixer Red (Morgan Freeman). He also becomes popular with the warden and prison guards, as he is able to use his banking experience to help the corrupt officials amass fortunes.
But Andy's seemingly stoic acceptance of his unjust imprisonment hides a fierce determination for freedom and provides a unique chance to change his fate.
This beautifully crafted movie features powerful performances from the entire cast and ultimately provides an uplifting message about the power of the human spirit and the value of hope.

What more is there to say? The Shawshank Redemption is an astounding film, that cannot be missed. And this steelbook really complements it well. A great purchase.
I really liked this Steelbook Edition being a huge Shawshank fan. However, i gave it 4 stars because once i opened the box it became impossible to close it properly with all of the content inside (content being the pictures and discs). It really is a shame, because the point of Steelbook Editions is the collective value, and the value decreases by removing the content. It would be much better if this edition had no pictures at all in it. But still, 4 stars because it really is a great film that stays with you a long time.
This is a great film and the steel box blu-ray and DVD is excellent. It comes in great packaging with two extra discs of info about the film. Excellent value for money and I received my order in a couple of days. Very happy with service.

I absolutely love The Shawshank Redemption. I put off watching it for so long because of it being a prison movie, and quite an old one at that. I just dismissed it as a movie that I'd not enjoy. Finally, I caved and decided to watch it, and I can safely say it is in my top 5 movies of all time now. It moved me to tears quite a few times, as well as keep me interested the entire time. So, naturally, when this steelbook came out, and me being an avid steelbook collector, I pre-ordered it right away. It arrived a few days ago now, and it does not disappoint. The artwork on the steelbook itself is gorgeous, as are the four art cards included inside. This has definitely been one of my best purchases recently.
