Morning Glory

I watched this film recently on the television and found it so entertaining and funny that I bought it as a birthday present for my sister. I hope she enjoys it as much as we did.

Great plot, great characters, great cast, great movie.

For ambitious, young Tv produce, Becky (Rachel McAdams) running a TV show in New York City was the big break she had dreamed of, and it didn't come a moment too soon. Having been fired from her previous job, she needed this one bad, so, despite the panning the Daybreak programme was getting, she took the job. Becky persuades slightly grumpy Mike,(Harrison Ford) a news reporter ,to take on the job of anchor man to Colleen's (Diane Keaton) anchor woman. To say these two dislike each other would be an understatement. The on air bickering provides some funny angles and Ford plays the irritable newsman to perfection, as he watches his own profession take a dive on the new style Daybreak. Ford's grimaces and patronising comments to Colleen only serve to fire the feud and Becky has to handle them both, as well as improve the ratings. She deftly and amusingly manages the understaffed programme in a light hearted manner, giving gentle laughs along the way. Despite being overworked, Becky is seen falling for the station heart-throb, Adam (Patrick Wilson) in between playing general to the two disagreeing foot soldiers. The pressure in constant to improve the ratings of this failing show. Can Becky bring the anchors around enough to turn the ratings in their favour? Some of the gags are overworked, but the script by Ailene Brosh McKenna (Devil Wear Prada) is jolly and fun. Ford handles the comedic aspect of his role perfectly, and the cast work well together to make a memorable and amusing film. Definitely worth watching.

Entertaining, funny film. Ernie the weatherman is great. The main character that Rachel McAdams plays is likeable, and its well worth a watch.

Predictable but fun story, but to be honest I think people who watch the movie aren't going to be expecting anything life changing. It's saving grace is Rachel McAdams who is a very affable character and hugely talented as a lead actress. Perfect fun for a girlie night, a first date, or a guilty pleasure.

Great game!

There are some movies that leave you indifferent. You walk out of the cinema, shrugging your shoulders and contemplating what to have for lunch tomorrow. Then there are those, that leave you with a definite emotion. Morning Glory, for me, was the latter. As the closing credits scrolled, I was inspired. I skipped out with a can-do spirit. Maybe its due to Rachel McAdam's contagious radiance. Maybe its Harrison Ford's excellent acting. Maybe it was the simple plot, and happy ending. I don't really know. All I know, is that even now, the after effect of this light comedy- was pure conviction that anything can happen, if you work hard and really want it.
