The show revolves around the Braverman family, which has expanded to three generations, featuring patriarch Zeek Braverman and matriarch Camille Braverman, their oldest son Adam and his wife, daughter, and son, their daughter Sarah and her two kids, their second son Crosby, his ex-girlfriend Jasmine and their young son Jabbar, and finally their daughter Julia Braverman-Graham and her stay-at-home husband and young daughter.

This is a great show and something that fills the massive gap in my life after Gilmore Girls and Brothers & Sisters. My only gripe about the DVD is that the first episode is ruined by the sound being out-of-sync with the pictures, but it seems to be the only episode affected. Thumbs up!
After not being sure what to expect, (I had watched the Steve Martin film ages ago and enjoyed it) this came as a pleasant surprise. Parenthood is not a comedy vehicle, although there are plenty of laugh-out-loud scenes. It is a very involving and poignant drama. The first two episodes are inevitable; a little bogged down with the introduction of the characters, (and there are plenty of them) but it then becomes a simple but effective evocation of family life. There is excellent acting throughout with no-one taking a 'star' role. Peter Krause and Bonny Bedelia are both brilliant, and Lauren Graham can do no wrong. You definitely have to watch this.
