Nintendo video game perennials Mario and Luigi come to life as plumbers who are thrust into a parallel dimension peopled by the descendents of dinosaurs. It seems that the meteor that hit the earth 65 million years ago (in Brooklyn, no less) didn't kill the dinosaurs, but hurled them into a world in which they have developed into a species of intelligent humanoids. And it is up to the Mario brothers to save Princess Daisy, and life as we know it, from the megalomaniacal Koopa, who wants to merge the two dimensions and rule the world that will result.

Mario Bros is Super !

I didnt see this film when it first came out in the early 90's but i did see it a couple of years after on video. I was a snes lover and was sooo worried the film would end my love affair with my favorite game by being tacky and rubbish. I did finally bite the bulliet and watch, and soon discovered a real eye opener. This film is not at all what I expected. The cast is excellent, Bob Hoskins is the perfect Mario, the story line is suprisingly really good and I was amazed at how quickly I was absorbed into the wonderful world of the Mario Brothers. Im also suprised with the popularity of the game a second film has never been made, but never say never. I just bought the dvd for my son who is as any kid with a wii, loving the games as I did. Dont be put off by bad game to film transfers, this is a really fun movie !
