Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) is an independant consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation and psychological manipulation.
Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits he feigned.
No-nonsense CBI senior agent Teresa Lisbon takes the heat from her boss, Chief Madeleine Hightower (recurring guest star Aunjanue Ellis), for Jane's theatrics and lack of boundaries, but acknowledges his usefulness and counts him as a loyal friend.
Lisbon's team includes agents Kimball Cho (series star Tim Kang), who serves as the lead interrogator with a desert-dry demeanor; Wayne Rigsby (series star Owain Yeoman), the team's resident fire and explosives expert; and relative newcomer Grace Van Pelt (series star Amanda Righetti), the optimist who is often at odds with Jane's more jaded views. Although the CBI team agrees that Jane is a loose cannon, they can't help but admire his charm and knack for clearing cases.

Excellent series - great value. I can't wait for the next series.
I heard about this series for a while but wasn't sure because the cover art seems a bit stuffy, like a history or period type show but it is a great series. From episode 1 it grabs you and doesn't let go. It's a cool and stylish show that keeps you guessing and at a fair price you can't go wrong. The series is about a former "psycic" who after the murder of his family works as a consultant for the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation) and uses his skills to solve the most baffling crimes while searching for the serial killer that took his family from him. With the dark thrills and quick clever humor I would recommend this to people who like series such as Bones, CSI and Dexter type shows.

I enjoy the Mentalist on TV, but always miss episodes or parts of episodes so this allows to me to watch how much I want and when I want. Throw in that it's on offer at a good price, what more could you want!?
