A kinetic, intimate look inside the subculture of heroin abuse, this acclaimed adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel follows the misadventures of Renton (Ewan McGregor), a brash twenty-something Edinburgh junkie, and his nihilistic chums Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Tommy (Kevin McKidd), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). Alternately comical and dark, the film ultimately comes down to Renton's choice between self-destruction or life. The stellar soundtrack should not be missed. This new release includes a brand new 40 minute feature with interviews from director Danny Boyle, screenwriter John Hodge and stars Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Ewan Bremner and Kelly MacDonald.

Drug-fuelled adrenaline rush

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Trainspotting is intense, dramatic but charming. It's everything you could want in a film. It's not for the faint-hearted though, with lots of messy drug related scenes, but it's a definite watch otherwise. It's also surprisingly funny for a film about heroin addiction. It'll keep you entertained for the full 90 minutes run time. I would strongly recommend!
