Developed by arcade veterans Arc System Works, Battle Fantasia is like no other fighter, thanks to its unique cast of fantasy inspired characters, alongside a storyline and script that stays true to its Japanese heritage and manga roots.

In keeping with the fantasy themes of the game, Battle Fantasia also has elements familiar to fans of role-playing games. Instead of having a standard health bar, characters have hit-points that drain away as they take damage. As a result smaller characters have less health but are faster and harder to hit, whereas larger ones can deal greater damage at the cost of a faster pace. This means the gameplay experience is unlike any fighter you've played before.

Battle Fantasia includes a variety of different modes e.g. story, practice, survival, time attack, versus and online multiplayer. What's more, by playing through the story mode, it's possible to unlock new costumes for the fighters, along with a range of artwork by Guilty Gear series legend Emiko Iwasaki.

good game, bad release

Hey guys, try to stay as far as you can from the 505 games release of Battle Fantasia. There's no voice acting for the dialogue and the losing segments after each battle are non existent. Take notice. Other than that Battle Fantasia is very fun, I would've given it a 4. There are 12 playable characters and you can go through a story mode with each of them. There's an over all world story about a dark force that's approaching and each character has his own journey in this scenario. Sometimes stories cross over. The stories are presented as dialogue segments between each fight (no sound in 505 games version), they are usually light-hearted with some added dramatic moments, the characters are mostly sweet and good natured. The fighting has pretty simple mechanics, it's easy to learn and fun to play. After dealing an amount of damage you can activate a heat up mode which was a nice strategic add, also there's a Gachi button to parry incoming attacks. There's also arcade or pvp (internet or local) modes. Much to do, really worth the money.
