After discovering the truth behind his father’s death and meeting an aging Bruce Wayne, Terry takes up the mantle of Batman. His early battles include facing Derek Powers, a powerful industrialist who becomes the radioactive villain Blight after a failed experiment tied to Wayne Industries.

Within the expanded DC Animated Universe, it is later revealed that Terry’s existence is part of a secret initiative involving Amanda Waller and Project Cadmus, ensuring the legacy of Batman continues into the future. This complex origin adds deeper significance to the character’s role in the DC multiverse.
