Guillaume Canet's thriller Ne le dis à personne aka Tell No One, is an intriguing thriller that keeps its grip until the very end. The story focuses on Doctor Alex Beck (François Cluzet), who's beautiful wife Margot Beck (Marie-Josée Croze), dies mysteriously during the couple's romantic trip in the French countryside. Alex is considered as the main suspect, but the police is forced to abandon all the allegations. 8 years after the tragic events Alex seems to live a normal life on the outside, but inside he's still living in the past. Unexpectedly, he receives an e-mail during the working day from an anonymous sender. Included in the e-mail is a short video message, he is shocked to discover a woman who looks similar to his late wife, Margot. He starts to believe it has to be his wife. Beck begins to question the many events and personal relationships in his live. Events will eventually lead to Beck becoming the main suspect again when the police have been forced to open up the case again in light of new evidence. He runs and that makes the police to question him further. In the film, however, nothing is what it first appears. The script is so great, that Canet gives the viewer constantly small clues and even then only a few could solve the mystery. Attention to detail is extremely important and ultimately rewarding if you want to avoid the dismay at the end of the movie. Casting is perfect and François Cluzet is definitely one of the best French actors. His performance in the role is fantastic and without a doubt the key reason why the movie works so well. My only issue with this release is the fact that this is a 1080i transfer. Had they used 1080p, I'm sure it would look much better. Nevertheless, this is a brilliant film. Do yourself a big favor and buy this right now. I promise you will not be disappointed.
