Refreshing

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

After an endless stream of predictable vampire teen romance films and tv shows this is a refreshing change. The film is shot with beauty and intelligence, it's storyline is understated and is more about isolation and unexpected friendship. There are some great scenes and this film is ideal for both arthouse and horror fans. If you want fast paced action, constant gore or a tired formulaic romance plot this probably isn't for you, but if you love films that break the generic modes and offer something new, then watch it as it really is a great film!

Interesting but not ever hits heights

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

Don't watch this if you're after good looking teenage vampires. THis is a thoughtful, slow and sometimes shocking Scandinavian film with unknown child leads. The originality of the story is in it's favour as is the excellent acting, Sometimes though it's a little bit too downbeat and slow and could do with speeding up a little. All in all a positive though maybe not as good as the book of the same name.
