I bought this on behalf of somebody else who is giving it to my husband as a Christmas present, we both loved the tv series and am sure the dvd's will be much loved. Yhis was beautifully packaged and arrived very quickly. I am very pleased

I live in Canada, so I began watching Kavanagh with the North American DVD release. Series One was pathetic in quality. It looks like it was taken from about a third generation VHS tape, it's that fuzzy. The end credits are barely legible. I decided to order the complete set from Zavvi at a very reasonable price, especially compared to the rude costs of the North American videos. The set arrived very quickly and I played the Pilot episode to compare quality with what I had previously watched. The difference is amazing. The picture is sharper, the colors are purer and it is much more enjoyable to watch. There is a bit of a cost for the picture cleanup though, with some scenes having noticeable artifacting, especially in the faces. It's still miles ahead of the NTSC vesion though. To be fair, the NTSC quality picks up with Series 2, but I still find it hard to believe Series 1 was released in the condition it was. John Thaw is wonderful, of course. He could say so much with his face without uttering a word that he's a joy to watch. This was my first purchase from Zavvi but I feel confident in saying it won't be my last.
