If you want to play a game on the PS3 it's very often the case your team members are running around doing what they want to do. And without a headset you have no idea of communicating or giving them orders. Also a nice game with your friends isn't so nice any more if you can't hear or even worse talk (back) to them. This Headset although not the prettiest one works fine and can bring some fun back in online gaming.
