I love the revamped story and the actors in Alice in Wonderland. My grandchildren will get it when I have watched it again. I would highly recommend this film.

Alice in Wonderland: Depp-initely worth a look!

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

*FILM ONLY* Alice in Wonderland is an amazing film, effortlessly fusing brilliant visuals, fantastic acting (particularly in the form of Johnny Depp) and an engaging plot. I hadn't read the book prior to seeing the film although it was good to recognise a lot of allusions in the film which have filtered into everyday life. I'm also reliably informed that the film sticks pretty closely to the original storyline. In terms of the 3D special effects Alice in Wonderland lends itself wonderfully to the medium: the surreal nature of the characters is emphasised and played upon by the 3D (particularly in the form of the Cheshire Cat). I've seen other films in 3D that jarred slightly and almost felt unfocused in places. Alice in Wonderland didn't have that effect at all, rather I was completely immersed from the first minute to the last, with the staging and characters feeling entirely real. In erms of plot the film begins with Alice having a crisis at the thought of being trapped in marriage and, whilst running away, falling down a rabbit hole into a whole new world of talking animals, food and drinks that change one's size and a Mad Hatter. Though simplistic (good conquers bad in the end as Alice defeats the Red queen) the combination of great acting and amazing special effects mean the simplicity really didn't matter. Partly thanks (I suspect) to the grounding the book gave the film, the plot unfolded smoothly throughout, with no sense of artificiality - disbelief was certainly suspended. There was also a very welcome use of humour at various points which lifted the film to a whole other level.

Amazing film

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This is an amazing movie, very cleverly done by Tim Burton, and with great actors such as Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. The film is set 19 years after Alice's first trip to Underland, and Burton makes use of this fact very cleverly throughout the film. Alice meets all her old friends from the Disney movie, such as the White Rabbit, and of course the Mad Hatter, who is potrayed brilliantly by Depp. All in all, a brilliant film to watch: Good plot, Good actors, some outstanding CGI and humour throughout.

Don't be late for tea!

This edgy remake of Alice in Wonderland is truly a work of genius. Though a variation to the original Alice in Wonderland plot you will certainly agree that this is a place like no place on earth. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter portrays a dark character with numerous comical moments but my favourite character has to be the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). Watch out for the pig and the Frog-footmen scenes especially. Overall, a must-see for any Disney fan and it has an amazing soundtrack too. Don?t be late for tea!
