'Late Spring' is one of the most sensitive and beautiful films ever made. It's not so much the story as the way the characters are portrayed, the superb understatement of love that says it all. It appeals because these are the sentiments that give meaning to our existence and which are so missing from the often crass way we undermine everything beautiful today.
